“A functional space for the athletes and sports enthusiasts, artfully igniting passion and performance”
Warehouse conversions… what is there not to love?
Stylishly designed, preserved architectural details, soaring ceilings and bright, open spaces, this is one stunning recreational hub that is very practical.
Love the preserved block walls, the Malaysian Hevea flooring, giving a great industrial aesthetic and the contrast of the white walls against the dark toned ceiling edge, Magnificent!
Project Highlight
- Acoustic engineering is challenging because the human ear is so sensitive that sound must be reduced by 50% to make a noticeable difference. In fact, sound transmission must be reduced by five orders of magnitude to less than 0.001% to achieve the Building Code requirement of STC 55.
- Creating a facility that can handle up to 100 visitors and constantly having noise transfer risk demands early involvement from the architect and the acoustic specialist.
- Having the mitigation plan can help save so much time when it comes to consent approval stage.
Can noise transfer risks be eliminated?
Operating 24/7 basketball court can have imminent noise impact to the neighbouring occupants.
To get around the noise concerns, we’ve worked closely with acoustic engineers to design the internal fit out to have noise dampening materials and deployed various mitigation.
• Floating floor – A floating floor was installed above the concrete slab to reduce both the flanking sound to the adjacent houses, and the impact stress done to the player’s knees.
• A suspended acoustic ceilings provides sound insulation not only in the vertical direction but also reduces flanking sound horizontally. It also enhanced aesthetic appeal of the old warehouse ceiling.
